The Centre for Computational Medicine

Mission

The CCM is dedicated to empowering SickKids scientists and clinicians with cutting-edge computational tools and expertise to enhance their research and healthcare efforts. Through our services, we aim to support data-driven research, precision child health initiatives, and foster collaborations between biomedical and computational experts.

Vision

Looking ahead, the CCM seeks to drive digital transformation across the Research Institute. By promoting the adoption of computational methods and skills, we aim to accelerate advancements in healthcare and enable the SickKids community to tackle complex challenges in computational biology and precision medicine.

How We Support You

  • Collaborative Bioinformatics Support: Partner with researchers at SickKids and beyond to provide biomedical data analysis and computational support for both short-term projects and long-term collaborations.
  • Comprehensive Data Analysis: Offer expertise in high-throughput sequencing, multi-omics, MRI imaging, predictive modeling, and machine learning, along with support for large-scale sequencing initiatives like Care4Rare.
  • Web Portals and Software Development: Develop web portals for data visualization, create custom software tools and pipelines, and provide expertise in programming languages like Python, R, and JavaScript for life sciences projects.
  • Grant Writing and Computational Support: Assist with grant applications by providing computational expertise, infrastructure details, and support through co-authorship or letters of support.
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC): Offer access to advanced HPC facilities for data analysis and storage, along with guidance on optimal usage of the infrastructure.
  • Bioinformatics Training: Provide hands-on tutorials to help researchers learn bioinformatics tools and techniques for their data analysis needs.

What We Don’t Do

  • Handle biological samples
  • Conduct wet-lab experiments
  • Engage in diagnostics, prophylaxis or treatment in humans
